About the HAS-PPCU Vilmos Fraknói Vatican Historical Research Group
“Founded in 2012, …(the HAS-PPCC Vilmos Fraknói Vatican Historical Research Group) … predominantly focuses on political, diplomatic, cultural and institutional history. Its prominent task is the systematic publication and processing of sources, which has been greatly neglected since the age of positivism. The collections of the Vatican serve as the primary well for research. In addition, thematically related materials of Viennese and Hungarian archives of letters and hand-written documents are also examined. Thanks to the institute’s basis at the university, significant attention is being devoted to the education of a new generation of scholars and ensuring the participation of students in certain fields. Through its work the research institute has created a far-reaching network of international partners, attracting Austrian and Italian participants.”
